As we build solutions for our clients we make an emphasis to protect our client's data and proprietary information. Every day security becomes more important than the day before of everyone's personal and business lives. For every line of code, we develop and every decision we make we put an emphasis on protecting our client's information.
We are often asked why we place security after honesty. The simple answer is anyone can tell you they are secure yet can't back it up. At JM2 no one says anything unless it's true (note: Rule #1 above). JM2 uses Microsoft Azure for all its core servers and other industry leaders to protect their customers. All the servers are monitored by industry experts 24x7 with text and email alerts reaching the team often before anyone knows there might be an issue.
We look at every problem that our client's present as our personal challenge to work with them to improve a specific problem. Whether this is just conveying the information displayed, answering a client's social media visitor, adding a call-to-action (CTA) to their website, or solving a customer's concern. As a family owned and operated company being friendly to our environment is critical to us. We use only sustainable environment technologies, servers that are backed by wind and solar energy (with the backup of the power grid and diesel generators). JM2 wants to not only provide a great and better world for our children but those of and those who haven't joined the JM2 family. Each decision JM2 does revolves around improving our environment. JM2 Webdesigners started with two friends in the fall of 2011 who are still friends today. It took a year and a half to develop the business model, create the software that started us off, and make certain we provided a better solution for small businesses that want to grow and expand.
Both initial owners had the same initials of JM. One was married and the other had recently been engaged. Their significant others were critical to them taking that "leap of faith" to become entrepreneurs. Being the company had a foundational element of software development they came up with a mathematical idea to their name as that is the basis. The name JM2 is pronounced JM squared to cover not only the male owners but their significant others were an integral and equal part of their decision (e.g. two squared is four). The name is typically though just JM2 (JM Two) as it's easier for everyone to remember and pronounce.
After five years it became apparent that having a name that was just initials was not memorable and would not last the test of time. It fit the rule of being unique but not both unique and memorable. Being Holly who is one of the owners had a love for the abominable snowman and having come across a cute character of one we knew we had found our mark. This cute guy was not only unique but something memorable that people would remember. It would spark a conversation without saying a word and people would think about it even when we weren't around.
JM2 wouldn't die off though. It would become the parent to every business that we work with. Right now under the JM2 umbrella we have the following companies:
Over the years we've been asked if we can create one-off items for our clients. They don't want to buy hundreds or even a dozen items. Our clients typically do not want inventory, and they want something in full color that adds value to their brand. Add to that the need for us to create our own branded marketing materials and a need for something different came to fruition. We're experts at being different, talked about, and breaking the status quo in everything that we do. As such, Valpo Shirts has arrived and it is a game changer. This business is dedicated to apparel and putting your logo and other branded information on a multitude of items with the core focus on apparel.

After proving our techniques grow small businesses it was time to change our name to Business YETI from JM2 Webdesigners & Marketing. We have now changed in several ways with this change. Rather than adding 1-3 new clients a week we've stopped actively looking for clients and focusing more on our current clients. This has given us the ability to spend more time with our current clients while doubling their overall growth and we see this as the future direction. Business is all about ROI (Return On Investment) and we are focused solely on helping small businesses reach this ROI.
First web design and marketing company in Northwest Indiana that offers a Project Coordinator for every monthly business plan customer at no cost. Learning from past "holes" in our system we find this a necessity to provide the highest level of customer service within Indiana and beyond.
We have official released v1.0 of our combination Content Management System (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. We are pleased to call this a v1.0 as we have been using it as well as over 100 clients since January and it is time.
This was the hardest month in the company's history. We let go of our largest client that was covering more than half of our bills, payroll, etc. The problem was that we were so spread thin because of one client that our customer service was preparing to implode. It came down to money or customer service. We knew the answer that customer service was key to success, so we had to not renew that lucrative contract. They were a truly great client, but we needed to no longer focus on medium-sized businesses. We are now 100% solely working with small businesses as we see them as the true driving force of the American economy.
Time for an official ribbon cutting and a business after hours with the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce. We still are not done with the remodeling, but the building has come a very long way in a short period of time.
Our Content Management System (CMS) has been doing great surpassing over 100 installs and growing by 1-3 clients per week. The most requested feature we've been asked by clients was the ability to have the features of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Having installed many solutions for small business and enterprises this was a natural fit for our system. We felt this would also be the perfect set to bring our CMS to a v1.0 state. The goal has been set to have this by the end of the year with Accounts, Leads, and Tasks to start with which is the minimum features one needs for a CRM system to be useful.
We finally signed for our new building in Valparaiso Indiana. Now we set a one-week turnaround to get the building into an operational state so that we can take care of our clients. The building is over 2,000-square feet so we have some extra elbow room.
After a dozen candidates we have we hired Kyle to handle customer service and our social media endeavors after he had sent us his resume. He was one of the first we received yet was one of the last we interviewed.
Some buildings later we find one only a mile from Zoseco at 403 East Lincolnway in Valparaiso Indiana. The building had been emptied for many years, had no floor, but sweat equity is the best way of taking ownership.
We were in the need of our second full-time employee to help with our social media growth as between Teresa and John we couldn't add any more clients without hurting customer service. The process was started for the right candidate as well as a larger space as 100-square feet works for two but not three. This is where "Project Coffee Pot" was started. This project was tied to our love for coffee.

Growth is in the air and it's time we started looking at growing so we moved from our single desk at Zoseco to a larger 100-square foot space across the hall which was still art of the Zoseco co-working group.
Our first "big move" from working out of our homes to Zoseco co-working in downtown Valparaiso Indiana.
All paperwork is received, and we became an official startup with obligations to pay taxes and everything else.
